Account-based everything

Account-based everything

DEFINITION

Account-based everything, sometimes shortened to ABE, extends the account-based model beyond marketing to sales, customer success and support, so every function works from the same target account list and the same definition of priority. It is an operating model rather than a campaign type.

Is it meaningfully different from ABM?

Mostly in scope and in who owns it. ABM is something a marketing team runs. ABE is a commercial operating decision that binds functions to the same list, which means it needs executive sponsorship rather than a marketing budget. Plenty of teams describe as ABE what is in practice well-coordinated ABM.

What does it change in practice?

Three things. Customer success gets a say in which accounts are targeted, because expansion accounts compete with new logos for attention. Support signals become buying signals. And the account list stops being a marketing artefact that sales quietly ignores.

Is it worth adopting the term?

Only if the operating change is real. Renaming ABM to ABE without changing who owns the account list adds vocabulary and nothing else, and it makes vendor conversations harder because every party means something different by it.
